Ann Taylor CBE was elected as Chair of Home-Start Guildford - taking over from Ruth Jubert, the Chair for the last three years. At our AGM on Thursday 8 October, held at Astolat, Burpham, the Mayor, Cllr Pauline Searle, praised the work of the charity in supporting families in the borough.
Ann Taylor became a Trustee for Home-Start in June this year. She has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a senior civil servant, working in central government for the Department of Business and, prior to that, was responsible for the £7bn compensation scheme for miners suffering from lung disease and vibration damage to their hands. Prior to this, she was Director of Policy for OFTEL and has worked in personnel, regional policy and shipbuilding.
Outgoing chair, Ruth Jubert will stay on as trustee for fundraising. "The scheme has grown over the last three years and I am very proud to have been part of this expansion. The staff and trustees do a fantastic job and the scheme wouldn't run without our home-visiting volunteers. I look forward to supporting Ann in her new role and to build on the profile-raising and fundraising activities that we have undertaken in the past."
