Parents helping other parents
a simple idea that really works!
|
Home-Start offers friendship and support to parents with young children so that every child can have a good start in life.
Our trained parent volunteers know how hard it can be to bring up a family. Their experience can help other families - some may have quite severe problems whilst others may just need a helping hand for a while. Every family's situation is carefully reviewed by our professional staff so that they may be matched with a volunteer with the relevant experience.
Our focus is on Early Intervention and Prevention, supporting families at an early stage to ensure the support we offer has the best possible impact on their children.
|
Our volunteers visit families in their own homes to provide emotional and practical support in a variety of situations including
- isolation
- bereavement
- multiple births
- illness
- disability
- family breakdown
- post-natal depression
- or who are just finding parenting a struggle.
|
Home-Start Guildford also runs a Family Group at Pirbright Army Base on Tuesday mornings during term time to help to support service families.
Families can be referred to us by their health visitor or health professional or can self refer. Our service is confidential and FREE to families.
If you are a family and would like to talk to us in confidence about anything Home-Start Guildford can do to help or if you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer or supporting us in any way,

Press Coverage: Zoe Williams in The Guardian talking about Home-Start as a national charity in her article entitled This Governments talks about empathy...
